Inquiries were made through the day about deceased, but nothing was heard or seen of him until his body was found Wednesday morning. She didn't think anything was troubling his mind lately, though he had said he would be better off dead. He said this Sunday night. He seemed to be troubled about some care. John Parker of South Grafton, deposed to searching with others, for deceased, and finding his body in the creek 300yds from where he resided, in about 9 to 10ft of water. Deceased could not swim. Mrs Morris recalled, said that deceased usually rose early, and was in the habit of going in the direction of the creek, where he was found, for the cows. The finding was that the deceased came to his death by drowning, but there was no evidence to show how it happened Excerpt from the Daily Examiner, 4th July, 1891.¹
